The first thing we did is select our paper. Then we tore it into small pieces and put in a pile. Next, we put it in a blender and made a pulp, but we stopped it about half of the way through and added some more paper. Then, we poured it on a screen and dipped it in water and set it on felt to dry. Last of all, we put in under a stack of books. Charles M. Gibbons
In Mrs. Salter's class we made homemade paper. We were talking about reuse, reduce, and recycle. And then Mrs.Salter said that we were going to make homemade paper. We got some paper that was in the paper pile and we shredded it. After we were done shredding, we waited until it was our turn. When it was our turn we put our pieces of paper into the blender. When Mrs. Salter turned the blender off she poured our now chunky pieces of paper onto a piece of frame that is inside a picture frame. Then she put it on felt. After that she laid it on a chair. She said that by next Tuesday when we come back to her classroom, the paper will be ready to write on.
My name is Jadyn Delph and I loved this project!
First, we picked up a lot of trash from the floor. We put our trash into some bags. Then we weighed it grams. We added all of the totals into just one total. Then we multiplied it by .0022 so that is how we got the total in pounds. We got 7 pounds out of just a single room. Then we sorted all of the trash into three groups. We got some paper then we shredded the paper. Our teacher told us we were going to make paper. We put the paper in a blender with water. In a week we will be able to right on it.So we will make a present for our parents.
Hi I am Diego I think I will make paper at my house a lot.
Before I can tell you about mold I need to tell you about mushrooms. Mushroom roots cover the forest decomposing dead leaves. Mushrooms are things we call decomposers. Decomposers take dead things and turn them into nutrients for themselves. Mold is basically microscopic mushrooms. They are so light they float in the air. When they land on food that is laying out they grow mold on it and decompose it. If it was'int for mushrooms there would be tons of leaves in the forest. The way people stop mold from growing on food is by refrigerators. Before they had refrigerators people used salt to stop fungi growing on food. People put meat in rivers also. That is mold and fungi. Avery
The stock market game is a game that resembles real life stocks. We have a team that works together and we buy stock. We start of with $100,000. You buy stock with the money provided. You want to make money on the stocks you buy. You have 9 weeks to buy stock, you have to buy 3 stocks, and hold them for 3 weeks. There are bulls, pigs, and bears. We are pigs and they are trying to make money fast in a short period of time. You want to have as much money as possible at the end of the 9 weeks. That is how they decide who the winner of the stock market game is. This is the stock market game.
Mold is one of the many types of fungi. Many people do not know that tiny mold lives inside their house breaking down old food. People can fight the mold by putting their food in something cold such as a refrigerator. Mold can not survive in the cold.
Universe in a box was a project we did in Mrs.Salter's class. We had a piece of paper were we wrote all the months January to December. We put a round piece of paper with a slot cut that we could turn. Then we folded the first piece of paper were the sides were constellations when we twisted the round sheet of paper where the slot only had one month open. That month would be in front of the constellations that you could see in that month. This is the universe in a box we did in gifted.
Choices? We make choices every single day. We make the choice to get out of bed in the morning. You make the choice to brush your teeth, eat breakfast, and go to school/work. Choices are the key to our free will. If we did not have choices we would just do things. We could not decide our opinions. Choices are so important, we make so many choices. Our brains make choices for us without even notifying us. We make choices to move every muscle in our bodies. We make billions of choices in our life. Choices are the key to our survival. Without choices the person who first discovered fire would not have. Those are my thoughts about choices.
A Universe in a Box is a project we did in Mrs.Salter's class about the constellations from the months January to December. It would tell us what constellations are in what months of the year. There was a arrow you could turn on the bottom of the box if you turn it right it would start a January and move its way on to the next months the more you turned it the more constellations you would see and that's also when you would find out what month that constellations is in.this helped me understand more about how constellations move and what months different constellations come out.
Last week in gifted we learned about magnets, where they came from and how they work. Magnets were first found in Egypt when the tacks holding there shoes together started coming out. Magnets look kinda like obsidian but not that much. Magnets work buy pulling medal towards them. The thing makes that happen is the magnetic force surrounding them. That's what I learned.
